This short video features a recent award-winning transitional master bath design and remodel by Drury designer Terry Kenney for a Wheaton, IL homeowner. This dramatic master bath makeover transformed a dark and outdated master bath into an elegant well lit personal oasis and is an example of the creative bathroom ideas available by working with Drury Design's talented designers.

Award-Winning Master Bath Design
The client goals for this transitional master bath design and remodel included:
- Create a sophisticated master bath with a spa like feel and experience
- Incorporate a contemporary aesthetic that complimented the home’s decor
- Add space and storage with an improved floor plan
- Improved lighting
“Throughout the design process, the Homeowner’s mantra was ‘light, bright, airy and updated’. The original builder grade bathroom was outdated and dark, so the new one had to achieve all of these criteria”, states Terry Kenney.
Terry continues, “While the new bath layout stayed within the original footprint, we were able to create an open floor plan by swapping locations of one vanity with the shower. By doing this, we were also able to achieve the goal of a larger steam shower! Re-orienting the tub and using a freestanding tub created an open view throughout the bathroom. The contrast of the dark wood Grabill cabinets with both the light countertop and floor tiles gave the homeowner the updated look. The shower glass does not obstruct the view of the room and the glass tile in the shower provides additional reflectivity – “light, bright and airy!”
