Drury Design congratulates Tina Muller on winning an award at the 2008 /2009 Sub-Zero Kitchen Design Contest {KDC] award for her entry in the traditional kitchen category. Tina, a Glen Ellyn resident, joined Drury Design Studio in 2001 and is the recipient of numerous recent National Kitchen and Bath Association [NKBA] design awards.
A lot of time is spent in the kitchen, bathroom and other areas in which the room’s décor is critical. With today’s technologies, you can easily hide video screens and music speakers virtually anywhere.
This kitchen serves a very busy family of four. The home located in the Aurora / Naperville area was built in the 1980’s and possessed a lot of desirable amenities; however, the layout of this kitchen was very tight and not functional for the family’s lifestyle.

The existing diminutive and poorly lit kitchen, eating area and screened-in porch were morphed into one larger sprawling kitchen that included all amenities to make it perfect for cooking and entertaining as per the homeowners vision.
Here is a recent kitchen project that took inspiration from the client’s favorite restaurant – the design and materials were selected to create a rich urban feel with a warm color scheme and by combining the textures of glass, stone and wood.
