Don’t know where you fit in on the Green Consumer Scale? Here are some descriptions for you to rate your own level of Greenthusiasm:

Greenless: 23% of total surveyed; They have the lowest “green” attitudes and behavior; they are generally unmoved by environmental issues and alarms.

Greenbits: 19%; This group exhibits behaviors higher than the lowest groups attitudes; they generally don’t care, but, they are doing a few things, maybe they recycle.

Greensteps: 31%; This group exhibits moderate attitudes and moderate behaviors; They are aware of their Carbon Footprint, they are concerned, and taking steps to eliminate waste and to recycle, but still drive an SUV. If they can do something that does not cost any more, but is environmentally responsible, they are likely to do it, but they might not ask for it outright. This is the largest group and the one that will purchase standard products that are environmentally responsible if given the information and opportunity.

Greenspeaks: 14%; This group exhibits behaviors and attitudes lower than the highest group; This group talks the talk more than they really walk the walk. They drive an hybrid SUV, but want energy efficient appliances and recycled glass tile or countertops. They will seek products that they can feel good about purchasing and will spend a little more money for that piece of mind.

Greenthusiasts: 13%;This group exhibits the highest attitudes and highest behaviors; environment is a passionate concern and is a consideration in every decision. They talk the talk and walk the walk. They recycle everything, ride bikes to work or to the train, and drive a hybrid compact vehicle.

Here’s how the Greenthusiasm levels break down by age and income levels:

Green Consumer 2

Regardless of your greenenthusiasm rating from the above, there are a mulititude of options to incorporate green design approaches including; environmentally responsible, sustainable and recycled materials into each design and remodeling project. Be sure to let your Drury Design designer know where your interest lie at the outset of your design consultation.
