April 10, 2014
Designed for a professional chef and her family, a Drury Design kitchen is one of Trends Magazine’s top 50 American Kitchens for 2013/14. The award-winning fresh transitional kitchen won first-place in NKBA Chicago’s Midwest 2013 Design Visions competition. Gail Drury, CMKBD won a Trends top 50 American Kitchen award for a transitional kitchen in Hinsdale, Illinois in 2013.
Part of a complete first floor renovation to modernize and open up spaces for an active family and a two-cook couple, including one professional cook, this Aurora, IL kitchen remodel fit the bill.
“One of the biggest trends in US kitchen design has been the evolution of a transitional style – a look that can be described as warm contemporary or refined traditional. This kitchen is a great example of this style. It’s designed to feel comfortable, but without the distraction of over-ornamentation. The design also turned an awkward layout with a small cooking area into a space that is functional and can cater to cooking classes being held by the chef owner,” says Paul Taylor editorial director, Trends Magazine
Dubbed the “Chef’s Domain” by Trends Publishing, the project will be featured on myTRENDS as well as in the Trends Top 50 US program through various online and offline media.

February 6, 2015
Inspired by world travels, America’s most beautiful kitchen design lives in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. Designed by Drury Design, the kitchen’s rich eclectic look realized the vision of world travelers who call Chicago home. The Moorish Contemporary design was honored with two awards: Best of Show and first place in large kitchen category at the 2015 National Kitchen and Bath Association [NKBA] Design Competition Awards during the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show [KBIS] in Las Vegas.
This eclectic kitchen, housing many focal points and contrasting textures, serves as a functional, multifaceted space for the busy city family.
Accented with antiques from Morocco, the design reflects the homeowners’ love of all things international. A stunning antique Moroccan door purchased on a past trip to Marrakesh provided inspiration, not only for styling but also for color, texture and pattern that was repeated throughout the final design.
Called “The Moroccan Marvel” by NKBA, this double award-winning kitchen remodel is on the cover of the NKBA’s “2015 Best Kitchen and Bath” KBIS issue. The NBKA describes the best of show winner, “This eclectic kitchen, housing many focal points and contrasting textures, serves as a functional, multifaceted space for the busy city family.”
