Color Trends

Adding color to your next remodeling project can add interest and help make your space pop. Here are some ideas and examples regarding some of the recent trends for this year.

Kitchen and Bath Color Trends

A new color scheme can transform an outdated room into a dramatic new space! Changing the color of the walls and a few key pieces of furniture or accessories can make a refreshing difference in the way you view your kitchen, bath, bedroom, dining room, or any room in the house. Color also says a lot about you and your personality, you can make an incredible first impression by applying color – so why not have some fun with it?

Kitchen and Bath Color Trend #1: Bold Colors

Strategically placed, bold colors can be powerful. Take a single yellow chair, or a collection of orange print throw pillows, for example.  The colors can pop an otherwise neutral living room. A bright print ottoman that contrasts nicely with a black leather sectional, or a red stove in a cream-colored kitchen can really draw attention to exquisite taste. Don’t be afraid to add a punch of color when you redesign your home.

With an all-white Master Bathroom, a punch of dark blue on the walls created an inviting and elegant space. The light sconces cast a warm glow against the deep blue, perfect for a creating a relaxing atmosphere.

Kitchen and Bath Color Trend #2: White Kitchens

White kitchens are still in focus on the interior design scene. They can consist of marble countertops all the way to painted cabinetry and walls. White brightens and widens the appearance of a small galley kitchen or a kitchen with no windows. However, you rarely see white appliances in a white kitchen. White appliances can dull the lightness of surrounding elements. Instead, try using stainless steel or a bright colored appliance to add some pizzazz to your space.

White cabinetry, white countertops, and a white backsplash tile created a fresh feel to this kitchen. A pop of color can be displayed using decorative pieces, such as the greenery shown above. Stainless steel appliances are used adding contrast against the white finishes.

Kitchen and Bath Color Trend #3: Patterns

Bright florals, bold stripes, and flashy patterns are becoming a common trend. It’s not a throwback to the 1980s – it’s a whole new generation of patterns designed to enhance your contemporary, transitional or modern space. It’s important to choose the right patterns. You do not want your space to be overpowering. The right materials, textures, and lighting will invite your senses to stay a little longer.

A classic black and white checkerboard floor compliments the pearl white inset cabinets, Carrera marble countertops, and black painted walls. Antique mirrors provide a unique focal point upon entering the room.
