NKBA 2016 Chicago Midwest Design Vision Awards Announced
The Drury Design team swept the 2016 NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association) Chicago Midwest Chapter Design Vision Awards, winning eight honors including Best in Show and Most Dramatic Makeover. Congrats to the homeowners and the designers on creating the most beautiful kitchens in the Midwest!

Diana Burton Wins Best in Show
Before:
The dramatic Western Spring home renovation opened up much of the vintage home’s first floor; completely reconfiguring the kitchen and living areas to be more welcoming, functional and up-to-date. Earning perfect 10s from three judges, this kitchen design also earned first place in the Medium Kitchen category, as well as receiving the award for most impressive Before and After Kitchen transformation.
“The original space had significant issues to overcome, including a chimney that had to be integrated into the space. Our team thrives on creative challenges,” said designer Diana Burton. “We reconfigured the space to make it appear that the chimney was part of the plan all along.”

Alicia Saso, AKBD Wins Most Dramatic Makeover
Before:
This traditional Glen Ellyn home underwent a complete makeover. With an original kitchen that was divided into two parts and had no workflow, Designer Alicia Saso, AKBA started the layout from scratch to give these homeowners the kitchen they dreamed of.
This Spanish-style home received a head-to-toe transformation into a beautiful contemporary kitchen with sleek surfaces, intriguing textures, and a soft color pallet. This home redesign combined carefully preserved original fixtures with modern conveniences and created a streamlined, modernized, open space. This kitchen remodel received three awards: Most Dramatic Makeover, best Before & After and Third Place Large Kitchen.

Janice Teague, CKD/CBD Wins First Place Large Kitchen
Honored in a tie for first place in the large kitchen category, Janice Teague, CKD/CBD designed this award-winning project for a professional chef. Two islands, zones for cooking and entertaining, and professional-quality appliances elevate this Hinsdale kitchen to incredible heights. Janice also received third place for a sophisticated renovation of a large master bath, which included extensive built-in storage to contain clutter and expansive swaths of rich wood and light-colored marble and tile to create a relaxing retreat.
