In the world of design, we’re fortunate enough to witness new trends, new tools and new techniques that enable us to better serve our clients in their kitchen and bath remodeling projects. With the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, we took a little time to reflect on the changes we’ve seen in design this year and the ones we’re thankful for, plus why we’re thankful for our wonderful clients and the work we get to do with you.

Bath design:  Contemporary design and durable products

This year, bathroom design ideas trended towards clean, contemporary bathroom design. Modern, minimalistic design creates a soothing bathroom environment for getting ready stress-free, and sleek lines in tiles, square porcelain vessel sinks with mounted wall faucets, and floating cabinetry give bathroom spaces a streamlined, contemporary feel.

We’re also thankful for new durable products like reconstituted veneers and engineered stone that work so well in bathroom environments. With reconstituted veneers, our clients enjoy an environmentally friendly alternative to other rare and expensive exotic wood species while still getting consistent color and pattern. Engineered stone, similarly, is perfect for bathroom countertops because it’s resistant to stains, easy to clean, long-lasting, and has the same beautiful look as natural stone countertops.

Kitchen design: Soft color palettes

One kitchen redesign trend we’ve seen this past year is the prevalence of soft color palettes in kitchens. The muted tones of taupes and greys are quickly replacing white as the top color choices, and simplicity is becoming the norm. These neutral color palettes create an elegant look for luxury kitchens, yet the kitchen function can still be designed to address any busy family or hostess’s needs.

Design tool: Computer drawing systems

Computer drawing systems are making our design process easier all the time! This enables us to better show our clients what we can do for them with more detailed drawings. We’re able to accurately illustrate a wide variety of options for kitchen and bath designs that meet their needs, which is a vital part of our client-centered design process. Better computer drawing systems allow us to work hand-in-hand with our clients to bring their design goals to life.

Drury Design: Our expert team and eager clients

As President and Creative Director of Drury Design, I’m especially grateful for our design team. We have an amazing group of people to work with- the best group ever, in my opinion!- and it makes putting together beautiful spaces for our clients so much easier and more enjoyable.

On a similar note, I’m thankful for our wonderful clients. Our clients seem eager and excited about the prospect of remodeling their homes after a couple of years of caution. They are full of fresh, new ideas and ready to move forward on projects that they’ve been thinking about for a while. The fresh excitement in the air makes the whole process enjoyable for all involved!

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and thank you for counting on Drury Design for professional help with your kitchen or bath design project!
