What is the NKBA?
The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) is a not-for-profit trade association with nearly 14,000 member companies representing tens of thousands of members in all segments of the kitchen and bath industry. Through the creation of marketplaces, networks and certifications, NKBA inspires, leads, and empowers the kitchen and bath industry. Drury Design is a proud 26-year NKBA member.

Kitchens and baths represent a $134 billion home remodeling industry, according to NKBA research.
Other NKBA kitchen and bath industry stats include: More than 10 percent of American homeowners did a kitchen or bath remodeling project last year for a total kitchen and bath remodel and replacement market of $85 billion. The kitchen and bath market for new construction is $48.6 billion. Existing homeowners remodel upwards of 10.2 million kitchens, roughly one in 10 of all households, and 14.2 million bathrooms – every year.

Drury Design is honored to have received numerous NKBA kitchen and bath industry awards, both at the national level and the NKBA Chicago Midwest Design Vision competition. In 2015, a Drury Design Chicago contemporary kitchen project won the NKBA best in show award.

Because we believe in the value of advancing education, we encourage our designers to earn NKBA professional industry certifications.

Third Place Large Bath – 2016 NKBA Awards
AKBD
Defined: An Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer is a certified professional, knowledgeable in product selection, space planning, materials, and finishes.
Requirements: Applicants must document a minimum of two (2) years’ experience. At least one year must be specifically within the kitchen/bath industry. The second year of experience may be in a related industry.

1st Place Large Kitchen, Best Overall Kitchen – 2015 NKBA Awards
NKBA Kitchen and Bath CKBD
Requirements: CKBD applicants must document a minimum of five (5) years of experience. A minimum of two years must be specifically from full-time residential kitchen/bath design experience, including design execution or project management. The remaining three years can consist of full-time kitchen/bath design or related industry experience.

Best Before & After Bath – 2013 NKBA Awards
Applicants must also earn a minimum of 60 hours of NKBA education or NKBA approved college coursework. Education must be completed before the candidate’s application for certification can be approved. Courses should be documented as accurately as possible on the application. Applicants must pass their AKBD academic exam prior scheduling their CKBD exam.

1st Place Large Kitchen – 2013 NKBA
NKBA Kitchen and Bath CMKBD
Defined: The Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer is a program which recognizes extraordinary experience and achievements in the kitchen and bath industry. The CMKBD must possess not only their CKBD certification but must have an additional seven years of experience in the industry beyond the date of their first certification. CMKBDs must also meet additional requirements included in the checklist below.

1st Place Medium Kitchen – 2013
Requirements: Candidates applying for the CMKBD certification are required to have both their CKBD certification prior to applying. Candidates must also have an additional seven (7) years of industry experience in addition to the knowledge that they have already demonstrated to earn their CKBD designation. Four (4) years of this additional experience must be from full-time kitchen/bath design.

3rd Place Large Kitchen – 2012 NKBA Awards
Applicants must also earn a minimum of 100 hours of NKBA education, NKBA approved college coursework and/or CMKBD requirements. Education must be completed before the candidate’s application for certification can be approved. Courses should be documented as accurately as possible on the application.
