Three Drury Design Projects Honored in the 2026 Kitchen & Bath Design Awards

Long before sketches are drawn or materials are selected, our designers spend time understanding how each client lives, cooks, entertains and relaxes. It’s that thoughtful, highly individualized approach that we’re proud to see recognized once again in the 2026 Kitchen & Bath Design Awards presented by Kitchen & Bath Design News (KBDN).
This year’s competition recognized three projects from the Drury Design family, earning one Silver Award, one Bronze Award and one Finalist distinction among the nation’s top kitchen and bath designs.
Bronze Award — Best Kitchen Over $250,000
The Art of Two Kitchens
Designer: Gladys Schanstra
Drury Design Owner and Creative Director Gladys Schanstra earned the Bronze Award in the Best Kitchen Over $250,000 category for The Art of Two Kitchens.
Designed for a family that loves to entertain, the project pairs a stunning front kitchen with a fully equipped secondary prep kitchen tucked discreetly behind it. The result is a home that delivers the beauty expected of a showpiece kitchen while providing the functionality needed for serious cooking, large gatherings and everyday family life.
This project is also a Finalist in the global Kitchen Design Contest by Wolf/Sub-Zero/Cove.
Silver Award — Best Primary Bathroom Under $75,000
A Mid-Century Primary for Two
Designer: Emily Kreber
City Design (our sister company in Des Moines) Lead Designer Emily Kreber received the Silver Award in the Best Primary Bathroom Under $75,000 category for A Mid-Century Primary for Two.
Working within the existing footprint, Emily transformed an aging bathroom into a bright, efficient retreat that feels both timeless and distinctly personal. Thoughtful planning, carefully considered storage and authentic mid-century influences created a space that functions beautifully for two people without sacrificing character.
Before leading design efforts at City Design, Emily developed her craft under both Drury Design founder Gail Drury and current owner Gladys Schanstra. Emily is actively involved in Drury Design through her participation on our Leadership Team.
Finalist — Best Kitchen Over $250,000
Revolutionary Revival
Designer: Samantha Schoell
Senior Designer Samantha Schoell was named a Finalist in the highly competitive Best Kitchen Over $250,000 category for Revolutionary Revival.
The project reimagines a Colonial-era home with a kitchen that honors its architectural heritage while introducing the functionality today’s homeowners expect. Rich detailing, carefully layered materials and a thoughtful floor plan create a space that feels as though it has always belonged within the home.
A Reflection of Great Clients and Great Collaboration
The Kitchen & Bath Design Awards are judged by respected industry professionals who evaluate projects on design excellence, creativity, functionality, problem-solving and attention to detail. Recognition at the national level is always meaningful, particularly in a competition featuring outstanding work from across the country.
For us, these awards are also a reflection of the trust our clients place in us. Every recognized project began with homeowners who were willing to share their goals, challenge assumptions and collaborate throughout the design process.
