Gladys Schanstra’s Two Kitchens, One Home Earns KBB’s 2026 Best Kitchen Award
An inviting place to gather. A dedicated space for serious cooking. Gladys Schanstra’s “Two Kitchens, One Home” project in Burr Ridge has earned Best Kitchen in the 2026 Kitchen & Bath Business Project Awards.
The honor adds to the project’s Gold in Qualified Remodeler’s Master Design Awards, Bronze in Kitchen & Bath Design News’ design competition and Finalist distinction in the global Wolf/Sub-Zero/Cove Kitchen Design Contest.
This time, KBB’s judges highlighted the layering of wood, stone and glass, the relationship between the kitchen and adjoining bar, and the thoughtful details tucked into the spice kitchen.
Those details began with the homeowners’ priorities: room to entertain and a fully equipped kitchen supporting their Indian culinary traditions. Gladys designed two connected spaces, each with its own purpose and character.
