Vibrant Contemporary Kitchen Design – Wheaton
If you’re used to hosting parties and important family gatherings, space if of the essence. This striking modern kitchen called for a generous buffet for important gatherings, but also for a sense of personal flair. The challenge was to provide more serving space and more storage space, all while incorporating the homeowner’s unique artistic vision: To bring the oak trees that surrounded the home into the kitchen as well.
The custom glass panels at the back of the kitchen were the answer and form the visual centerpiece of this design. They were traced, then carved and painted by a unique glass artisan. A dramatic iron red quartzite on the large island set the color palette for the space, and reds and grays were extended throughout the rest of the kitchen and into the adjoining family room. The resulting bold contemporary design is at once perfectly functional – and completely personal.
