Fresh, Modern Guest Bathroom – Glen Ellyn, IL

Designer: Diana Burton

The Setup

Before the renovation, the family often called this ‘the ugly bathroom.’ Although it was practical, its outdated style clashed with the rest of the home’s fresh, transitional aesthetic. The goal of the remodel was to not only update its appearance but also take a step towards a more modern look.

Design objectives:

  • Include neutral materials that will endure
  • Feature unique tile that offers interest
  • Include materials with an organic, natural vibe
  • Improve the aesthetic

The ReMODEL

Design challenges:

  • Enhance shower area by incorporating visually interesting elements that don’t overwhelm the space
  • Make use of the awkward void to the left of the shower
  • Make a simple vanity that’s appealing

Design solutions:

  • Dramatic textured accent tile offers contrast to subtle tile on shower walls
  • A four-shelf niche for open storage and decorative items
  • A dramatic floating stone vanity with matte black plumbing freshens up the space

THE REnewed Space

The once ‘ugly’ bathroom has been masterfully reinvented into a modern and elegant oasis. Neutral, enduring materials blend with unique tiles and organic accents, creating a harmonious and visually appealing space. The new design, featuring a striking shower area and a sleek floating vanity, has transformed this bathroom into a sophisticated highlight the homeowners are proud to display.
